15. HOW TO KNOW GOD

(Love as He loves)

"God is Love." (1 John 4:7ff) So, how could anyone know God if they themselves are without hearts of love? Can hate know love? Can indifference know love?

The challenge then, if God is love; how are we to love as God loves, because only if we love as He loves can we possibly come to know Him as He is.

So, this is our challenge!
Can our hearts, yours and mine and everyone's, be love as God is love, as Christ 'the Son of Love' is love?

If our hearts are to love with the same pure love of the Most Holy Trinity we must learn of God's love for us which He has revealed in the Divine Heart of His Only-Eternally-Begotten Son sent into the world; the Divine Son Who gave Himself for us that we might become like Him, loving as He loves, and to be heirs with Him in heaven.

So, the question now is: can we really become, each of us, a little aperture, a little fissure, a little crack through which the light of God's love can shine into the world, wherever we are, in whatever we do?

We are not the Light, but he has given to us The Light, Christ Jesus the Lord, so that wherever we are, His Light might shine through us to light the world with His love. This is God Who has given Himself to us, sharing what He is with you and me , and through us, giving Himself to the world.

And so it is, that by giving ourselves to Him in His pure and perfect Holy Love, we become like Him and know Him. Our hearts, constantly open to His Awesome Living Loving Presence within us, discover the desire of His Prayer being realised in the hearts of those who love Him:

"Father,
That they all may be one,
as You, Father, in Me, and I in You;
that they also may be one in Us;
that the world may believe that You have sent Me.
And the glory which you have given Me,
I have given to them;
That they all may be one, as We also are One:
I in them, and You in Me;
that they may be made perfect in one:
and the world may know You have sent me,
and have loved them, as You have also loved Me...
...that the love wherewith You have loved Me,
may be in them, and I in them." (John 17:21ff)

"Father, grant that, at Your feast of love
Sitting with the Saints above,
We may see You face to face."
Amen. Alleluia.
